Set up QuelpAI on any website

Everything you need to use QuelpAI and put your assistant live, on any tech stack. Two minute setup, no code required.

How QuelpAI works

QuelpAI reads your website, learns your business, and puts a smart assistant on your pages. It answers visitor questions from your real content, works out who is a strong lead, and captures their details or books a meeting, all on its own.

01

Crawl

It reads your website and any documents you upload.

02

Learn

It builds a private knowledge base from that content.

03

Assist

The chat widget answers visitors from real content.

04

Capture

It qualifies visitors, saves leads, and books meetings.

Quick start

  1. Add your site. Create your workspace and add your website address.
  2. Crawl it. Open Set up → Knowledge, enter your URL, and click Crawl site. The assistant answers from this, so do it before going live.
  3. Shape the assistant. Open Set up → Agent & Brand to set its name, tone, goals, and look.
  4. Install the snippet. Open the Install tab, copy your snippet, and paste it into your site.
  5. Go live and test. Reload your site, the chat bubble appears. Ask it a question.
Tip: You can preview and chat with your assistant before installing, using Test it live on the Install tab.

The embed snippet

Installing QuelpAI means adding one snippet to your site, the same idea as Google Analytics. You paste it once and it works site wide. Your snippet carries your own key in place of pk_your_key_here:

Your snippet, from the Install tab
<script>
  (function (w, d) {
    w.QuelpAI = w.QuelpAI || { publicKey: 'pk_your_key_here' };
    var s = d.createElement("script");
    s.async = true;
    s.src = "https://api.quelpai.com/widget.js";
    s.setAttribute("data-public-key", "pk_your_key_here");
    d.head.appendChild(s);
  })(window, document);
</script>

For frameworks and tag managers, this single tag does exactly the same thing. Use whichever is easier to place:

Equivalent one-liner
<script async src="https://api.quelpai.com/widget.js" data-public-key="pk_your_key_here"></script>

The key is public

The pk_ key is made to live in your site’s code. It is safe to expose. Your private key never leaves QuelpAI.

Updates on their own

Change settings in QuelpAI and your live site updates automatically. You never re-paste the snippet.

Where it goes: paste it once, just before the closing </body> tag (or anywhere in the page head). It loads without slowing your site and handles single-page apps on its own.

Install on your stack

Pick your platform. Every method places the same snippet. We support any tech stack.

WordPress

  1. Install and activate the WPCode plugin (Plugins → Add New, search “WPCode”).
  2. Open Code Snippets → Header & Footer.
  3. Paste your snippet into the Footer box and click Save Changes.

Using Elementor? Go to Elementor → Custom Code → Add New, paste the snippet, set the location to Body – End, and publish it site wide.

Always copy your real snippet from Set up → Install. The examples show the exact shape; only your pk_ key differs, and the script source always matches what your Install tab shows.

Knowledge

Open Set up → Knowledge. This is the assistant’s brain.

Crawl your website. Enter a starting URL and click Crawl site. QuelpAI finds pages through your sitemap, your links, and, for content whose listing page is JavaScript-driven (like job boards and blogs), through your site’s feeds, so items are captured even when the list page needs JavaScript.

Upload documents. Add knowledge that is not on your website: price lists, policies, catalogs, FAQs. Supported formats are PDF, Word, TXT, MD, and CSV (up to 10 MB each).

Re-crawl after you publish new pages, products, or job posts. The crawler is diff-aware, so it only re-reads what actually changed.

Agent & Brand

Open Set up → Agent & Brand. It has several tabs:

Persona & Tone

The assistant’s name, voice, and the starter prompts visitors see first.

Behaviour & Goals

Goals it aims for, topics it must avoid, and free-text custom instructions, plus the auto-CRM threshold and an optional scheduler link.

Qualification

Screening questions the assistant asks to score and tag visitors.

Appearance

Colour, theme, logo, and layout of the chat widget, plus an optional WhatsApp button that lets visitors message you on WhatsApp (free on every plan).

Content

Reports, FAQ publishing, and posts.

Install

Your embed snippet and the Test it live preview.

Custom instructions are the strongest lever. Write plain-English rules for your business: how to greet visitors, what to collect, and what never to promise.

Flow builder

Not every business wants an AI to answer. The Flow builder lets you design the exact conversation your visitors get, as a visual map of buttons and questions, with no AI and no code. Open Build → Flow Builder in Studio.

On the Free plan every site runs on a flow, so this is where you shape it. On a paid plan you choose per site: keep the AI assistant, or switch that site to a flow. You can flip between the two whenever you like, and switching takes effect on the widget straight away.

The seven step types

Message

Says something to the visitor, then moves on to the next step.

Options

Shows buttons. Each button has its own path, so you can branch the conversation on what the visitor picks.

Collect

Asks for a detail such as name, email, phone, or company, and checks the answer is valid before continuing.

Condition

Checks a value you already collected and branches down a yes path or a no path.

Book meeting

Opens your scheduler inside the chat so the visitor picks a real open slot.

Capture lead

Saves everything gathered as a lead and fires your integrations (CRM, Google Sheets, Slack, and more).

An End step closes the conversation with a final message.

Build a flow in five steps

  1. Add steps. Click a step in the Add step bar, or drag it onto the canvas.
  2. Connect them. Drag from a step’s bottom dot to the next step’s top dot. Options and Condition steps have one dot per branch.
  3. Edit each step. Click a step to open its settings on the right: its text, buttons, the field to collect, and so on.
  4. Set the start. Select the first step and click Set as start. The flow always begins there.
  5. Publish. Switch the mode to Flow chat and click Save. The status chip turns green when the flow is valid.
Every new site starts with a working flow already laid out (greet, offer options, collect an email, book a meeting, capture the lead). Edit that instead of starting from a blank canvas.

Shortcuts

Press Delete to remove the selected step, or Ctrl/Cmd + D to duplicate it. Use the minimap and controls in the corner to pan and zoom.

It has to be valid

Save is blocked while there are errors, for example a step with no way in, or a start that is not set. The panel lists exactly what to fix.

Visibility

By default the widget shows on every page. Use the Visibility tab to include or exclude specific pages, handy for hiding it on checkout, account, or admin pages. You install the snippet once at your site root; visibility rules decide where it shows.

Integrations

Open Set up → Integrations to connect the assistant to the tools you already use. Availability depends on your plan.

CRM & data

Push qualified leads to your CRM, Google Sheets, Notion, or Mailchimp.

Calendar

Let the assistant book meetings straight into your calendar.

Automation

Send events to Zapier or your own webhook, and notify a Slack channel.

Verify & troubleshoot

Confirm it is live: open your site in a fresh tab, refresh, and the chat bubble should appear within a few seconds. Click it and ask a question.

If the bubble does not appear:

  • Clear caching or CDN. Caching plugins or Cloudflare can serve an old page without the snippet. Purge and refresh.
  • Check placement. The snippet should be site wide (footer or body end), not inside a single post.
  • Check the key. Paste the whole snippet, including your pk_ key.
  • Disable blockers while testing, script blockers can hide it on your own browser.
  • Only on some pages? Check your Visibility rules.
  • Empty answers? Run a crawl in Knowledge first, the assistant answers only from indexed content.

Plans & limits

Every plan includes the assistant, crawling, and lead capture. Higher tiers raise limits and unlock integrations.

FAQ

Do I need a developer to install it?

No. On most platforms you paste one snippet into a settings box. The WordPress steps are written for non-technical owners.

Will the snippet slow down my site?

No. It loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your pages from rendering.

Is the key in the snippet safe to expose?

Yes. It is a public key designed to live in your website code. Your private key stays inside QuelpAI.

Do I re-paste the snippet when I change settings?

No. Edits you make in QuelpAI apply to your live site automatically. You paste the snippet only once.

How does it handle a single-page app?

The widget watches client-side navigation and re-checks your visibility rules on every route change, so it behaves correctly across an SPA.

My listings load with JavaScript. Will they be indexed?

If your platform exposes a feed or sitemap (most do, including WordPress job boards and blogs), QuelpAI discovers items through it and indexes each one, even when the listing page needs JavaScript.
